Eun Jung, originally from Korea and Guillermo, originally from Mexico, started their careers as professional dancers/performers and later found their home in Philadelphia, dedicating themselves to teaching and art making.  As deepening their practices in movement, they both discovered the profound connection and love for various modalities of bodywork, somatic practices, improvisation and integrated healing processes.

Both have traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand for 5 summers to study with many respectful masters.  They both have completed Thai Massage School (TMC)’s GTC 300 Teacher Training program, and studied other modalities of Thai bodywork, including Nerve Touch Technique, Tok Sen, Chi Nei Tsang, Abdominal Detox Massage, Karen Hill deep tissue, Thai Trigger Point, Thai medical massage, Reflexology, Amatarot, and Thai Aromatherapy.  They offer their knowledge and practice to those who desire to connect with the inner spirits and experience unique Thai ancient healing techniques through touch and movement.

Practitioners

Eun Jung Choi, originally from South Korea, is a professional dance maker/instructor/performer and Thai massage practitioner. As a movement artist and a dance maker for the past 30+ years in the U.S., Korea and Mexico, Eun Jung have been privileged to work within intimate communities where physical contact has been an integral part of artistic practice and exploration. Her dance partners have brought care, compassion, clear intention and generosity to her work and have made her feel connected and nurtured and have promoted feel-good sensations that foster a sense of well-being and happiness. Eun Jung’s sense of physical contact within dance practice has been a dynamic healing path in many ways: physical, psychological and social. It is biology as much as it is psychology. Touch has been life itself in her own personal artistic expression.

As a movement artist, she initially became fascinated with Thai massage because its physical form and shape resemble partnering dance. The beauty and the benefits of Thai massage become so clear in her life that she began studying to become a Thai massage practitioner herself. Since 2014 she has traveled annually to Chiang Mai in Thailand to spend several months of intensive study with various and diverse teachers of Thai massage. She is also a graduate of the Philadelphia School of Massage and Bodywork, where she have studied to become a licensed massage therapist, primarily focusing on Western massage modalities such as Swedish, deep tissue, myo-fascial, trigger point, sports and pre-natal massage. Through all of her training, she has come to understand some of the human behaviors that cause specific symptoms and pain, and she has also learned the power of being fully present to listen in her massage practice.

Guillermo Ortega (dance educator / Thai bodywork practitioner) offers Integrated Thai bodywork and Abdominal Detox Massage in Center City, Philadelphia. Massage facilitates the body’s natural tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, which we call homeostasis or “feeling good”. Guillermo wants to help clients to achieve wellness and keen awareness of their own bodies through massage to achieve a sense of balance and freedom. His work as a dancer, dance teacher, and pilates instructor informs his massage practice and understanding of body mechanics, kinetic chains, and training potential.

Guillermo’s massage journey started with traveling to Chiang Mai, Thailand between 2014 and 2018 to study Thai bodywork. While in Thailand, he completed GTC 300-hour Teacher Training program at Thai Massage School (TMC). There he also studied several Thai massage modalities such as Jack Chaiya’s Nerve Touch Technique, Thara massage technique, Tok Sen, Karen Hill, Trigger Point Thai Massage, Reflexology, and Chi Nei Tsang. Back in the USA, he studied between 2017-18 at the Philadelphia School of Massage and Bodywork, 700-hour training in Swedish massage, Sports massage, Trigger Points, Prenatal, and myofascial release among others.

Past education includes a BFA in Contemporary Dance from the “Escuela Nacional de Danza Clasica y Contemporanea” in Mexico City as well as a MFA from Temple University. He is an adjunct professor at Rowan University and Temple University.
